Valentines Garlands

As part of my Valentines Day decor, I went a little garland or banner crazy. I had a vision for what I wanted to do. I really didn't want to do the traditional red, white, and pink. Instead, I decided to do cream, white, blush, soft pink, and gold. I went to Michaels Arts and Crafts and decided to also make a yarn pom pom garland as you saw in my previous post. They also had some of the perfect colored doilies that I knew would look great on some hemp string. I also found these cool shaped cards that were outlined in gold glitter and soft pink. There were 10 pieces in a pack for $4.99 (use a 40% coupon and that is a good deal). I also found a DIY chip board banner in the exact shape of the cards for $5.99. My next find were these awesome rose gold chargers. They just screamed Valentines Day to me. I absolutely love the sparkle and color. Then off I went home to make all my finds into my Valentines Day decor vision.

First, I took my hemp string from the Target dollar spot. I folded the soft pink doilies with gold polka dots in half. I ran hot glue along the crease of where the fold was and stuck the hemp string right down the fold. I spaced them right next to each other barely touching and continued the process with 12 doilies. The package came with 24 dollies for $3.99 ( again use a 40% off coupon for a steal). So I still have 12 doilies left to make something else or another banner. This was a super quick and easy banner and I love how it turned out.

Next, I took my chipboard banner and my cards. I took one card and put a dap of hot glue in the center and stuck it to the chipboard. I made sure to quickly line it up and straighten how I wanted it on the board before the glue dried. I continued taking one card at a time and glueing it to each piece of chipboard. When all 10 pieces were done, I then took the string ( the chipboard banner came with string in the DIY kit) and looped it through the pre-cut holes on the chipboard. Next, I found some cute sticky gold sparkly letters at Hobby Lobby ( by the scrapbook supplies). I stuck them in the center of each board to spell Valentines. This garland also was pretty inexpensive and simple to make.

My final garland was felt pom poms. This was defiantly the easiest of them all. So, Michaels has these pre-made 4 foot felt garland in a few colors. Obviously I got the white. I really wanted it to be longer than 4 feet. So I bought two. I hot glued the end of each pom to each other to create an 8 foot garland. DONE! It was super easy and it is similar to the Anthropology one for a fraction of the cost. Each garland was around $3.99 ( again even less than that with 40% off coupon).

That concludes my banner/ garland extravaganza. So stay tuned to see all of these pieces in action for my Valentines Day vignette reveal.
