The Iron Cowboy

My Husband and I had the opportunity to hear one of the best motivational speeches I have ever heard. The Iron Cowboy. If you haven't heard of him by now you are missing out.

James Lawrence, a.k.a. the Iron Cowboy, completed 50 triathlons, in 50 days , in 50 states. One of which he pulled, towed, and pushed Dayton, who has cerebral palsy, through the whole triathlon. An absolutely remarkable feet and accomplishment ( Did I mention he has a wife and 5 kids too). Listening to him talk about his experience, trials, and stories was amazing. He said one of the hardest things is not to listen to the people who say you cant do it. Turn down the volume on all the negativity. Focus on the positive and uplifting things that drive you forward. That really spoke to me. In our lives we all have goals and dreams that we are working toward. There will always be people who say you cant do something. There will be people who put you down, tell lies, and try to break your confidence. What better advice than to block that out and focus on the good. Focus on why you have that goal and what drives you forward.

James talked about how he could not have gotten through some of the toughest times without his biggest support team, his wife and children. This really resonated with me. My husband and kids are the most important things in my life. They are the reason why I do what I do. They are everything to me.Anything I do, I do for them. My goals and passions all start from them and the love and encouragement we have for each other. There will be dark moments and hard days on the way to reaching goals. But there will also be a team of people who love you for who you are, and want you to succeed. The mind and body are capable of so much more than we think. We are capable of achieving so much more than what limits we think we have.

James wanted to prove to himself and children that you set a goal, and you go achieve it. Something bigger than yourself. There will be a million people tell you why you cant do something. Every time that happened; he had a solution of how it would work. There should never be a plan B. Just a variation to your original goal that lets you accomplish what you set out to do. Plan B is an excuse to give up. Make what you want to achieve the only option.

The Iron Cowboy was an incredible way to start the new year. My family has some big goals this year. We have had some tough moments lately. I was so inspired by his journey and accomplishments. It has given me a new found boost and outlook for my family and personal goals this year.

I know this wasn't a home decor post but some things are too good not to share. :)
