Mother's Day
I can’t believe Mother’s Day is tomorrow. We are in May already. What!? I have been thinking a lot about being a mom lately and all the wonderful mothers in my life. I thought I would share a few thoughts about being a mom in honor of this glorious holiday. :)
My Mom is someone who you always want on your side. She is hard working, dedicated, loving, and downright smart. Her mind never stops spinning and she tirelessly worries about her kids. She taught me so many wonderful attributes. When I was a kid I did not always appreciate them. For instance, every Saturday morning was cleaning day. We had to scrub the bathrooms, vacuum, mop, dust, and clean the kitchen before we could go anywhere with our friends. I dreaded Saturday mornings growing up. As I got older, I really appreciated having those skills and work ethic. We also had a ranch with goats and cows that had to be fed. She was also right there with my Dad riding horses, drenching the goats, and shearing the goats. All of us kids helped too. She taught me a real love for the game (basketball). She played her whole life and in college. I also still play basketball in recreation leagues (we even play in a church league together). My Mom loves her grandkids and is always there to help. She truly is one of a kind. She has been there for me my whole life, no matter what the circumstances. I am grateful for getting her as my Mom.
It seems like just a few years ago I had my little boy. Those few years have really been seven years. I can not believe how big he is now. He is such a special child that we are truly blessed to have. At such a young age, he was so intelligent. I think he has my personality :) . He has little freckles across the bridge of his nose that make me smile. His perfect dark brown hair is so fun to fix. His tall lanky body is so perfect to squeeze hug. My little boy is growing up. I just want to take in every minute of his sweet little self and enjoy his wonderful personality. He really is so responsible and loving. I couldn’t have asked for a better first born to be an example for his siblings.
My sweet baby girl. I prayed for her sweet spirit to come to our family. She has so much spunk and sass. She is always happy and active. My little girl (only two) thinks she can do everything her brother can. Her beautiful blonde hair and bright blue eyes melt my heart. She is constantly giving out hugs and kisses. My little girl can have her Dad and both Grandpas wrapped around her finger, the second she walks in a room. She is determined, strong willed, and fierce. I just want to soak in every minute of her and her brother before they grow up! I love being a Mom, especially to these two perfect little people.
You could definitely say I am blessed. I even have a wonderful Mother-in-Law. She has been such a blessing to our family. She has taught me so many priceless lessons. I can not even begin to thank her for all she has done for me.
I guess this Mother’s Day, I am just grateful. I am grateful to have the opportunity to be a mom and to have such wonderful mothers in my life.
